PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND:

[1995] PEIJ No. 177, (PEIAD)

In [1995] PEIJ No. 177 (PEIAD), Mr. W pleaded guilty to harassing the complainant after their romantic relationship ended. He called her vulgar names in a public place, assaulted her, visit-ed her uninvited, made persistent phone calls, and broke into her residence and damaged her personal property. She found him in her home waiting with a large knife.

He was sentenced to 36 months of probation, and ordered not to contact the victim, her family or friends. The Crown appealed the sentence, seeking jail time, which was dismissed. However, an additional firearms prohibition and an order to surrender any weapons was added to the sentence.
